Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

Good morning all!
Super Bowl Sunday is here (literally) - I only live 10 minutes away and used to live down the road from the stadium up until July of last year. Needless to say, I am avoiding the two highways that lead there by all costs! What are YOU making today for your Super Bowl parties? On my list are: veggie dip made with fat free sour cream, Buffalo Chicken Dip (or CRACK dip!) made with low fat cheddar cheese, low fat cream cheese, and low fat bleu cheese dressing, and sweet and sour meatballs. I know that I'm inevitably going to snack today, so I figured I'd have some "safer" options available to me. Normally, I start each day with a vi-shape shake, but unfortunately I didn't sleep home last night and forgot to bring my vi-shape with me (cue tears of sadness)! On the plus side, I found the Bodybugg that my Houdini toddler manages to make disappear from my nightstand whenever I put it to charge. So, I'm going to start wearing it again to boost my activity. I am bouncing back-and-forth between continuing to wear it or getting a FitBit. In terms of accuracy, the Bodybugg beats it by far since it has more sensors than just being a fancy pedometer like the FitBit. But I do like the "game" aspect of the FitBit app. We'll see. Stay on track as best you can today!

Day 3

Day 3 of my 90 day Challenge has gone well! I avoided a decadent breakfast that I made my family, avoided a bag of Doritos that were staring me in the face most of the day, and watched my portions at dinner. I'm feeling good and happy I found this challenge. Tomorrow we celebrate our anniversary, so hopefully I can stick to the plan while we're out.

Princesses and Harry Potter... Why not?

So what's the plan here?

While this is supposed to be a personal blog to document my life as a mother, it is apparent I haven't been posting on here as much. My goal is to post on here at least once a day... and I think a way I am going to do this is by posting my daily updates of my Beachbody Challenge. Get ready for great things!

Where have I been?

I was so committed to blogging and then I fell off the wagon. What is wrong with me? Anyway, I have been keeping myself busy. I've been focusing on losing weight and getting in shape. I'm doing Nutrisystem to help control my diet. I am also drinking the delicious Shakeology shakes which are the Healthiest Meal of the Day and yummy! I actually have been subbing my Nutrisystem breakfast with these shakes and I feel confident for when I stop eating Nutrisystem that I will stay on these shakes. In terms of fitness, I have been doing Turbofire and I am loving it. It is a lot of fun. So much fun in fact that I became a Beachbody Coach and I started my first Challenge Group with some friends. There are people doing P90X, Turbofire, and Slim in 6. I am very eager for us all to get into shape and for me to start my next Challenge Group!

Interested in joining my next Challenge Group? Send me a message.

Our Venture to Venture

My husband and I received a gift card for a photo session at Venture Photography in Ridgewood, NJ. We waited until Harper was able to sit up on her own before we made our session. After making our appointment, our photographer spoke with us maybe a week before about our styles and interests. He gave us different ideas of props that we could bring that represented who we were. For example, we brought NY Rangers jerseys because my husband is a big fan, a physics book because I teach it, and some of Harper's favorite toys. He also encouraged us to bring our two dogs since they are part of our family. When we arrived for our session, we were very impressed with the studio where we took our pictures. The room had a couch where we discussed the styles of pictures that we liked, and a dressing room where we could do our "costume changes" and also keep the dogs when we weren't using them for a photo. The experience was fun, and we weren't really "posed" but placed into different positions and scenarios and asked to pay attention to each other, rather than the photographer. To be honest, the only person he ever tried to get facing him was Harper. After our session, he made an appointment for our design consultation where we would see our pictures and order them. He also gave us a catalog with the pricing.  Yes. The pricing is OUTRAGEOUS. As part of the gift card, we received a free 8x10, but our photographer let us know that we could use it as a $230 credit towards one of the pictures that we would pick.
A week later, we had our appointment. We were brought into another room with 2 couches and surrounded by examples of the different frames and sizes of portraits. The salesman then projected a slideshow of our pictures on the 15 foot screen on the wall. It was simply, wonderful. They really captured our family, and we were in love. We had a game plan going into the consultation that we would ask them to throw the slideshow in for free regardless of what we decided to order. We did settle on a panoramic frame with our entire family (including the dogs).
Here's the slideshow (in low resolution so it would upload):
Would we go again? If we had the money in the future... yes. We would probably wait until we have our next child and they are that age. The pictures are works of art and not just normal pictures that can be taken in the mall. We really enjoyed our experience.
If you're interested in making an appointment, shoot me an e-mail because we get a free 8x10 if we refer someone to go!

My weight officially has a 1 in front of it. I seriously love Nutrisystem because it's the ONLY diet that I've been able to follow successfully. Weight Watchers and calorie tracking was just not laid out for me to follow correctly. It's the best thing I've done for myself. I can't wait to watch the weight fall off!

In other news, I've finally figured out a way to make room in our bedroom for me to do my Turbofire workouts there so that I don't have to worry about doing them in Harper's room. I actually look forward to these workouts - they seriously make me feel empowered! I can't wait for the next one.

As usual, if you're interested in $30 off your first Nutrisystem order, send me a message or e-mail me at mishonns at gmail dot com
